Groodles are known to be affectionate, playful and easy-going. They have sharp and clever minds. They are trainable and have a desire to please. They are also, and let’s face it, very beautiful dogs.
That being said, we encourage you to consider if a Groodle is the right dog for you.
Groodles are big.
Bobbie the mum, is 60cm tall (measured paw to shoulder) and weighs around 26 kilos. She is not a big Golden Retriever but Groodles can grow to 30 kilos.
Groodles need effective training.
Because they are strong dogs, it is particularly important they develop good manners with people and other dogs.
Groodles can shred (but we hope not).
Poodle mixes are very popular for good reason—their coats tend to shed less and sometimes not at all. Many families find them more suitable for allergy-prone households. While we expect they will shed less or not at all, we cannot guarantee hypoallergenic traits.
Groodles need regular grooming.
Many people use professional groomers, but even between grooms you will need to brush your dog thoroughly and regularly. Without brushing, the hair may mat causing considerable discomfort.
Groodles need lots of exercise.
All dogs need exercise, but big dogs usually need more. This takes time and energy.
Groodles are relational.
They need time with you - to lean on you, play games with you, learn from you and bond with you. Bored dogs are often mischievous dogs - they make their own fun (often with your belongings).
Please don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about this. We love our pups and want each one to join a home where they’ll bring years of happiness and companionship.
